first weigh in, for 2 weeks.

Hey All,

Well my first weigh in showed ive lost 500grams. Which im quite happy with considering most people who dont weigh in for 2 weeks and go home normally put weight on! Im happy, its a loss not a gain so that's GOOD!

I sort of started a new job on Wednesday. By sort of i mean its not set in stone! Its with a child care centre up here. I had the interview on Tuesday and they asked if i could start a trial on Wed, which i did. They want me to do another couple of days to see if i like it. Which I DONT! but Ill stay there until i find somthing else. Its casual so its not every day! I dont think i could do it full time. Im the qualified Assistant and unfortunatly for me the Assistant gets all the crap jobs. Most centre's share responsiblity with cleaning and setting up activites and meals. BUT NO not here, Im in charge of all it. It may not sound like much but it means this, i rock up to work the kids are playing, i then have to pick up toys, clean tables. We go outside for 30 mins, come inside, i have to set the toys up. 40 mins later or so, i have to AGAIN clean up the toys and wash the tables, i then have to set the tables for lunch. 30 mins later i have to put the beds down, clean up after lunch (with 2 y/o's it is a MESS) then sweep, mop, clean the toilets. Go to lunch, come back, get the kids up, put beds away, set up for afternoon tea, clean up afternoon tea, kids go outside, come back in, AGAIN toys out, toys back. Then the kids go to another room, and i have to pick up all the tables and stack them up, stack up the chairs, roll up the rugs, move boxes of toys, sweep. ENOUGH..... its so hard on your back. Even if you were smaller than me it cant be goood for you back!

Plus i really dont want to work with that age group again. My headaches wont be able to take it! People dont understand, I worked with this age group, and it was fine UNTIL i worked with primary school kids, you cant go back to the childcare age once you've worked with primary aged... The director said she's had alot of people leave because of this reason. You get used to being able to talk to the kids with them understanding, not doing nappies anymore... So im going to keep looking and since its casual ill be able to still go to interviews. So keep your fingers crossed for me!

Astro is better. He has to be fed every 4 hours. He isnt being sick anymore. SO that is good!

Well i have Tonsillitis now too. SO my throat is very sore.

OH PS. I finished Harry Potter and the deathly hallows it was AWESOME.. My fave book by far! But dont read it if you havent read the last 6! You will be lost!

Back home!

Hi Guys

Well I'm back home now. It was great to back to Melb, its been almost a year since I'd been down there. I missed Shaun so much though. Apparently the dogs missed me too. (And Shaun obviously)

Well we heard from the vet regarding Astro. Apparently we are to assume at this stage that he has a fast metabolism and feed him every few hours. Which means getting up in the middle of the night!!! GREAT
But it seems to be working so far. He was a little nauseous this morning at 2am so I had to get up and feed him, but I'd rather this than him having to have surgery.

Well Leane's funeral was good. Although I didn't quite make it through my reading. I'm so glad Merryn was there to help me through it. Leane had planned the whole thing herself and her parents did a great job putting it altogether. On Tuesday when I got down there Mez and I went to Val and Jeff's (Leane's parents), all her family were there and we had to watch a short movie that was on the extra's on the Lord of the Rings DVD"s. It was a story about Cameron Duncan a 16 year old film maker who inspired the last song played in the trilogy. He had made short films about how it was to live with cancer and gave the person/s watching his perspective, somthing Leane never really went into. Cameron Died 2 months after making his last movie in which he died and had acted out the funeral that he always wanted. His parents followed his instructions.

It was really insightful, Leane never went into details as to how she was feeling she was more concerned with the rest of us. So watching this, showed us all what she would have been going through. As Cameron put it, it was prison where you were not there for comitting any crime, you were there just because. It was sad. The song that Cameron inspired was the last song that Leane had chosen for her funeral. Her insturctions to her parents to find the song was to watch this movie. So Leane!

Leane had chosen many other songs first of which was : 'Don't you forget about me' by Simple Minds, when this played Mez and I looked at each other and just said "So Leane, So suttle" It was from one of her fave movies 'The Breakfast Club'
Other songs played with Photos being shown at the same time were: 'Hallelujah' Rufus Wainwright, 'Over the Rainbow/What a wonderful world' Israel Kanakawiwo'ole. (Try saying that last one!!)
The photos they showed of Leane were from her first few days right into her last few weeks. I burst into tears when the pics of our wedding came up, when we went to see Leane at home. Im so glad we did that for her!

Leane always wanted people to come together, she didnt want grudges to be held by anyone and it was like a reunion at her funeral. SO many people were there. I got to see my primary school teachers, high school teachers, friends from school. It was crazy. I just wish more people had kept in contact with her throughout her journey. But it would have meant alot to her to know they cared enough to be at her funeral.

Well over the last week I thought my weight might change and i was right!!!! My scales are HEAVIER than those at ww, and it seems over the last week ive lost 2.4 kg. So Ill be working hard this week to make it 3kg for my weigh in on Saturday. This means I will be 6kg down!!! How exciting only 4 kg left til I'm 10kg down...

Anyway, things should get back to normal now. Ive got a job interview at a child Care centre on Tuesday so that should be good. Fingers crossed!!!
