ooooohhhhh I wonder?
24 August 2007

Hey guys
(what the hell is that? read on to find out!)
MY WEIGH IN SAT 25th AUG: - 1.4 kg's
Well (Sat) tomorrow i should know how i went this week. Although I put on 500grams last week and i didnt weigh in so i would've lost 500 grams MORE than what weight watchers will see. So I'll have to remember to take that into account!! (Make me feel even better!!!! :o)
Today I wasn't so good!! ;oP We had chinese for lunch today since Shaun was home. He had another Tattoo session done yesterday so he'd taken today off for it to heal a little! For those of you who don't know, Shaun has been in the process of getting a tattoo since Feb this year. It's of the Angel of Death. (I know great choice ha?)
He has had 23 hours of work done on this thing. It is very detailed when you see it in person! The sculls are the latest to get done. He was in a little bit of pain though! As anyone who has a tattoo will tell you, if they stop for any reason your tattoo stops being numb and starts to feel pain again and starts stinging! WELL Ben who does Shaun's had to stop and see people at the front desk and he was out there for like 30 mins! Well as you can imagine by now your tattoo is throbbing and pain has flooded back in! Now imagine Ben comes back and starts tattooing you again!!! Uh hu!!! It hurts. He's really good though he knew straight away and didnt put Shaun through much more of it! But he's sore now. I accidently grabbed him there this morning and he squealed like a little girl. Lol
What a sook! hehehe
I want to say thankyou to all you ww'ers who have viewed my blog and are leaving wonderful comments. Thanks guys. I love the boards and you guys help keep me motivated. GO THE WW GIRLS!!! woo hoo... WE ROCK hhehehehehehehe. I make myself laugh when Im tired ;oP
I didnt get that job. They called me this morning. So much for being desperate. Apparently they filled the postition on Wed but didnt call me til today. That P$*&ses me off, especially since they already sent me an email saying "you have been unsuccessful" then to call me and offer me an interview only to reject me again? I don't get people like that. This is their first business too, so I guess I got a glimpse into their future with a company.. CRAP. MWAH lol.
Im in a strange mood today.
Anyways dude's and dudettes Im off like a bad smell. lol Told ya!

So far so good!
21 August 2007
Hey Guys,
Well so far this week Im doing really well! I haven't strayed from my points AT ALL! I'm also eating the right foods. I had a can of Coke today for the first time since Saturday! (Trust me that's good for me) So I'm very proud of myself for that.
So far the scales at home are being Extremly generous! My scales and Weight Watchers scales are usually only 200grams different. So I'm happy!
I am actually looking forward to my weigh in on Saturday.
I did exercise today! Hurt like hell since it's been awhile since I did any.
I had a job interview on SUNDAY! what a strange day! I don't think I've got the job. I rang them today and they said they'd have an answer by this arvo but I didn't hear anything. I hope I hear somthing tomorrow! It's at an optometrist. New shop opening in Highfields (Just outside Toowoomba) which means if I get it and keep it til the end of the year we will move out that way! I thought I had impressed them but who knows. If it's meant to be it's meant to be!
Anyway I'll let you know.
Ive also added a graph to my page which shows my weight loss at a glance. This way I can get rid of my "Journey So far" Since that will get way too big! At the moment i am 3kg above my goal progress line which means I have some work to do. So its motivational to see how Im actually doing!
Check it out!

P.S If you think you've missed a post in the week just gone (Since I've set it to 2 posts on the main page) Check the post archive. It will have the month and the number of posts next to it. You can click on the month and it will bring up all that months posts!!

What am i doing?
17 August 2007
I'm Posting this on Friday because I have things to write today.
Yesterday I was considering getting Lap-Band surgery. For those of you who don't know what this is it is where they place a band around the top 3rd of your Stomach and create a pouch. This pouch holds your new intake of food. It isn't much and as you fill the pouch it sends a signal to your brain telling you that you are full!
It then works slowly to release the food in the pouch to the lower stomach for digesting. The band is adjustable and can be completely loosened when pregnant and can even be removed if absolutely necessary. I spent 5 hours last night researching this procedure, and whilst I went to bed thinking I still wanted to do it. I don't this morning.
The reasons are this:
1. I can only ever eat the amount of food in that pouch for the rest of my life! While this can be a good thing, it also means I can never have a blow out at Christmas time or any other time for that matter!
2. Certain foods cannot be eaten whilst you have this band in place. These foods even contain veggies and fruits.
3. Alcohol has to be avoided. I don't drink at the best of times anymore but it would be nice to still have the option.
4. No soft drink ( I hear many of you saying this should be given up anyway, but it does coincide with alcohol since I drink spirits!!!)
5. For those of you who drink coffee or tea? Caffeine is to be avoided!! (could you give up your coffee?)
6. You have to eat slowly so that you don't cause a blockage! Scary in itself!
7. Certain foods can make you vomit! Oh yay that's what we want!
8. (listen to this in reference to number 7) you cant vomit! It may move your band and cause complications enough to have another surgery! NICE
9. A lot of people who have had this done, end up having what they call "Soft food syndrome" it is where you only eat Soft foods because you are scared to try others in case they make you sick! (yup always wanted to be a baby again!)
10. (the list could go on but you'd be here forever) I'd be giving up my life to lose weight!
I don't want this anymore than the next person and that is why I've decided against having it done. I thought that by doing weight watchers there was restrictions, and I think the reason I'm not doing as well as I'd like is cause in some sick and twisted way I felt like ww was making me give up the things I love!
But after considering this, I've come to realise that it was never about giving up the things I love, but rather learning to have them in moderation.
Learning that It’s not deprivation but liberation.
Liberation from feeling powerless over food. Liberation from not giving in to temptations that will keep me from reaching my weight and health goal. Temptation is a powerful thing but I have began to realise I am more powerful.
I don't need food to feel good anymore. (try telling my brain that!) My stomach and I, (I think) are starting to have an understanding. I just need to convince my brain to teach my willpower that I don't need to eat that stuff to feel satisfied. I think the thing I've been hung up on, is feeling like I won't enjoy food anymore. I am already seeing that strain, I hate having to plan meals now cause I feel like its too hard and that's when I take the easy way out. But all I'm doing is pro-longing my goals.
"The definition of insanity is to repeat the same behavior and expect a different outcome.”
How many of you read that, and thought "Oh wow, I do that"? I think just about everyone who has an eating disorder (when you are obese you have an eating disorder, you don't need to be wafer thin to have one!) will read that line and know exactly how it relates to their eating habits.
I strongly believe in myself right now. I know I can do this. I don't need a stupid band placed around my stomach to help me lose weight. I can do it myself. PERSEVERANCE
It's going to be so hard at first to really say NO to those temptations but you know what. Im going to make this blog more than a weekly thing. I have found that normally on a Saturday I feel so good about where I'm heading and I think its cause I talk to you guys about how I'm doing at that point in time. So I'm going to write (I won't say everyday but don't be too sure) as often as I need to. I think writing about how I'm feeling about my current situation is like therapy and it may help me to push through the temptations.
So check in regularly. I'll set my blog so I can have the last 7 days worth of Posts shown on the front so you don't have to go looking for them! Just scroll to the bottom and work your way up!
I can do it!
There is only 18 weeks left until the end of the year (WOW I just heard a gasp from my mother)
Hehehe and I plan on losing a fair bit for our trip down there in Jan! So look out people!
Anyway check back soon.....
Love Karen
UPDATE: It's Saturday and yet again I have the wonderful Tonsilittis! YAY. Im not weighing in today, as I have to go to the Doctors AGAIN. The money is better spent there. (I guess) I have put on 0.5grams. No excuses, I have none. Better next week....

No Weigh In!
11 August 2007
Hey Guys
Well I didn't weigh in today folks. I had set my alarm for 8 on the dot! But i woke up at 8:45am instead. Shaun is at an all day Soccer Carnival today. So he got up at 6am and woke me up which he doesn't normally do on a Saturday so of course when I went back to sleep it was a deep one..
Oh well. I got on the scales at home and I'm the same as last week. Which I dont mind since I have a monthly visitor staying at the moment....
Well I had an appointment with my Doctor, He wanted to see me again. I had to have another Blood test (the Glandular test was negative but my levels were a little off) so he wanted to redo another test to show these levels again. I'm booked in at the specialist on 31st August to talk to him about the next step in having my tonsillectomy. Apparently they used to (and still do sometimes) use a scalpel, but most times now they use a laser... it is suppose to be create less bleeding and the paitent feels less pain afterwards. So im a hoping they use this one!!! The Doctor said my tonsils look like Walnuts, They are wrinkled which they are not suppose to be. Or what he called them "Scared".
He also said I might have to have my Adenoids removed also, apparently this does hurt afterwards cause they scrape them out!!! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
So Im looking forward to a fun next month or two! (NOT).
I had 2 job interviews this week. One was at a Nursing home (Kitchenhand) Didnt get it!
The other is at a Welding company. They are looking for a Administration officer to do 25 hours a week. Which is perfect for me!!! The best part??? She said as long as you get the work done you can work as many hours per day as I like (in my 25 hour week limit) If I DO need more than 25 hours any certain week I can see if she has any other work for me to do and earn more dosh that week!!! How cool is that? Nikki has a job similar to this. Which means if she has things on or appointments she works her work around her!
She (boss) also said its a job share so there is a girl that does 15 hours over Tues, Wed and Thurs so I HAVE to do Mon and Fri but whether I do just 5 hours those two days or the whole days is up to me! I can come in Mon to Fri and do 5 hours if I like!! I want it so ALL OF YOU keep your fingers and toes crossed!!!!!!!!!
Shaun went away from Tues to Fri this week. So I was on my lonesome! It was alright. But we have a mouse running around the house somewhere and he was very active during the night so I kept waking up! Im not scared of mice at all (Ask Nikki) at 2am on Thursday morning I heard him in our wardrobe so Im on all 4's pulling out all the stuff at the bottom of the robe trying to get him out.. No such luck couldn't find him. He was living under Shaun's chest of drawers. I heard him one night when I was still reading Harry Potter, Pulled out the drawer and the little poop had a stash of dog kibble under the dam drawers. He was also at one point living in Shaun's bottom drawer cause there was mouse poo in the bottom of it! YUK.
I have began cleaning out ALL cupboards in the house to flush him out. He's been in all of them! He's only little, we've seen him a few times and there is only one! I was reading one night in bed (sitting up) and I saw a flash in the corner of my eye, looked up, heard Kibble moving (we keep the dog food in the closed bedroom at night) and then i saw the mouse run out under the door with kibble in his hands! Little POOP! The little bugger knew where to find food! So the food is off the floor now, so he will starve, Ive found most of his stashes of food, and cleaned them out.
Its a shame cause he's quite cute! Its a wonder the Dogs haven't found him! OR seen him.
Im going to take the dogs to the soccer today at lunch time. Shaun said there is going to be a BBQ and to bring the dogs, so why not..... Should be good. I wont be there too long. THe dogs can be a pain outside of the house! I refuse to take them to watch Shaun run around cause they put up such a fight to try and chase him on the field.
Speaking of, I almost lost Astro on Tuesday night when Shaun left! He was carrying on so much when we were out the front (Shaun had to drive a van down to Amberley and we have a steep driveway which goes DOWN to the house and UP to the street. Well he got it down the drive but couldnt get it back up!! Once I was done laughing I directed him and gave him encouragement. Our lawn is a little ripped up but hey! It wouldnt go up the concrete! Anyway Astro was inside making a noise and when shaun drove away and I went to come in He bolted out under the door and ran up the street. I was praying Jazzy didn't get out too! I finially caught him after alot of screams with his name to them and my bare feet running like never before. He cowered thats how I caught him. There is NO way you could catch them if they didnt stop! This breed is meant to run along side of horses!
SO I was rather distressed that night having nearly lost him. Luckily jazzy didnt go anywhere. After almost pooing myself cause i couldn't see her she came from out the backyard !!
This breed cannot be trained off lead. They are shocking like that. They are natural born hunters so if off lead and they catch a scent you've lost them!!!
Anyway I think Ive gone on long enough! Hope you enjoy the long post. Alot has happened lately! Aunty Mary I know you will be proud of how long this post is, you can appreciate it!!! hehehehe

still Crook!
4 August 2007
Well Im still Crook folks. I had to go back to the Dr's on Thursday since i havent been getting any better! They took some blood and a swob from the back of my throat (with sore tonsils that was NOT pretty or nice).
They are testing me for Glandular Fever. Hopfully im clear! Im still feeling tired (had a 2 hour nap today, and those that know me know i dont nap during the day) my throat is a little sore still, my tounge is still swollen at the back, my ears are still a tinsy sore, my body feels like i was hit by a car a few weeks ago. Still a little sore and tender. BUT im getting better and that's the main thing! AND i have my voice back. I couldn't find it for a few days but its graced us with its presence once again!!
After all this, and being on meds all week Ive lost 1kg! So im quite happy with that!!!! Im 300 grams away from 5kg loss. it's taken longer than anticipated (due to all the crap!) but its happened and that's the main thing. Out of the 10 weeks ive been re-doing this I've only gained twice! that's not bad 8 out of 10 loss!!!
i beat my goal this week. I only wanted to lose 500 grams so im very thrilled and hope this week i can lose close to 2kg! We shall see!
With summer not too far away ive got a bit of work to do, so i can wear some nice clothes. But if i stick to it i should be fine!
It was Jazzy's 2nd birthday on Wednesday! I can't believe she is 2 already!! Which means Shaun and my wedding anniversary is coming up soon for the big 2!!! How time flies!
Astro is good. He hasnt chucked in a while so that's good.
Shaun is good... Shaun is Shaun. What more do I say? .............................. ;o)
Anywho talk later. Going to have some dinner!
